Quick sketch. When I was casting for a rider, this cowboy (snailboy?) showed up. I decided to give him a chance, but the question remained, how would he motivate his steed…? But as you can see, they managed and now are running as fast as they can. 🐌

This idea grew into a larger collage, so you'll see it soon.

I was just looking at a sausage which was coiled up in a spiral, and it reminded me that Germans call a cinnamon roll a "cinnamon snail" because of that shape. And my mind objected "you don't need to create a 'meat snail', snails are already made out of meat!" From there I immediately leapt to "a whole genre of Westerns, and specifically Bonanza, except they ranch colossal snails instead of cattle". You're welcome.

I keep kosher so I have no idea what snail meat is like, but now I'm wondering how it would be scaled up to the size of a beef cow...

I had this idea in my head for a long time. Various competitors signed up for the competition (remember the cowboy?), but the race was supposed to be rather intimate... And then suddenly a huge crowd of spectators appeared with flags and screams of joy! 🪲🐞🪰

I can feel the Hollow Knight vibe from them.
